The Seattle Mariners were playing the Phoenix Diamondbacks on our final night in Seattle, so of course we had to go! It was just too bad that Ken Griffey Jr. wasn't scheduled to play this game. That would have been the cherry on top, but Kevin and I wore our Griffey shirts anyhow. This was our Father's Day treat for both Bob and Kevin, so we were determined to have a blast.

This was pretty cool - A bat sculpture hanging from the ceiling as we entered the stadium (my camera couldn't fit the entire thing in the frame - it was huge!).

Our neice Naomi and her BFF Darian came along. These tweeners are hilarious, and they brought a lot of energy to the night. What a riot! They had me laughing the whole time!

The Dads - Kevin and Bob

The game was nothing exciting to begin with. We figured it would be just another one of those slow baseball games that we girls would just enjoy as a social outing. So the girls and I went for our 5th inning sugar rush (as if these hyper girls needed it) - me with my chocolate milkshake and the girls with their cotton candy. The Mariners were down 0-3 to the D-Backs, so things weren't looking too good.

Just chillin'

Thanks again, Lisa for taking care of Isaac for us! We had a great time out on the town. :)

It was the 8th inning, and the Mariners were still down 0 - 3 to the D-backs. The crowd was getting rather antsy about it, and some people were even starting to leave. But then Russell Branyan stepped up to the plate... and got a home run! The crowd woke up a bit after that, and Kevin decided it was time for the rally cap.
And then......... they brought out Griffey! We couldn't believe it! As they started to play his song and then clips of him on the big screen, the crowd got to their feet and the place started to erupt. Kevin and I threw off our jackets, hailing Griffey with our t-shirts. Just as if in a movie, Griffey stepped up to the plate, and BAM - with the first pitch, he launched that ball into space and got a home run. The entire stadium of people went completely balistic. We were jumping up and down and high fiving everyone around us whether we knew them or not. It was totally amazing!!
From this view, you can see where we were sitting - out across the field under the Safeco Field sign.
And the Mariners won 4-3!! What a fantastic ending to our trip!
Griffey rules.
