Snow Day
Look at all the snow!! Washington has been having record weather these last few weeks, and while the family is rather sick of the snow, we think it's so pretty and fun! A welcome change to the Arizona scenery...

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you all! We have made it safely to Washington for Christmas, and although Isaac's first Christmas was spent on airplanes, it was exciting for him nonetheless. Much to my relief, we weren't confronted by blizzards or lengthy flight delays like I was afraid of. And Isaac seemed to have a great time along the way too!
The night before Christmas Isaac opened his first Christmas gift. This one is from Uncle Seth and Aunt Amy. Isaac says, Oooooh, I don't know what this is but looks like fun!
This was the view from the terminal where we were hangin' out. Isn't it pretty? The snowstorm that was supposed to hit Salt Lake City was nowhere to be found - much to my delight!
Kevin, getting some laughs out of Isaac.
Isaac slept til the final half hour of the second flight too. He got so much attention just for being so cute on the plane! He was having a blast, probably mostly because he wasn't confined to his carseat.

4th Annual Ugly Sweater Party
Every year Tom and Krista have an ugly holiday sweater party, and this year was no exception to the rule. Our hosts proudly displayed their twinner outfits with matching turtlenecks and complementary vests. Festive!

Some people come ready to compete for first prize! Tom's parents always bring their A-game.
Kevin and I had a theme all our own - more warm weather / tropical theme here. Kevin in his "Arizona Sweater" and me with my Hawaiian flair.
And what do you know.... I won first place for the sweater! It was such an honor, and at my acceptance speech I thanked my creative husband for picking the winning sweater for me and for my God-given puffy painting skills in decorating it for victory. A glistening tear was shed as I received my basket of chocolate prizes.
Here's a rough sketch of the other winners ...
It was great to hang out with our friends and get out for an evening of fun. (Thank you Heather and Amanda for babysiting Isaac!!) Kevin and I don't get out much at night anymore, so nowadays it's a sure treat!

Ready to Go!
Isaac is ready to go in his travelling outfit for the plane ride we are taking this week! We're going to Washington for Christmas and New Years. Isaac is going to meet the other half of his family for the first time! We are anticipating many warm memories this year.... emphasis on warm. It's literally FREEZING in Washington right now!

4 Months and a Week
Isaac reached his fourth month last weekend while we were in Simi.
What a cutiepie he is!
He has mastered holding his head steady and is now on to accomplishing pushing himself up on extended arms while on his tummy.
He grabs anything within arms reach and is getting really good at keeping a grip on things.
He rolls easily from front to back and is getting close to rolling over from back to front. He seems to prefer sleeping on his right side, and with just a little help rotating his hips, he could easily flip to his tummy.
Lately he has been staring at his hands in amazement as he turns them. He'll even try to throw his hand and then seems startled that it's still attached! It's so funny to watch...
We learned at his 4 month checkup yesterday that he is 15 lbs. 10 oz. and 26 3/4" long. He's still in the 95th percentile for his size. Because of his height, he's already fitting in 6-9 month onepieces, like pj's and onesies!
This is the stage when he will likely start making sounds like words, such as da-da. Since learning that, Kevin has vowed to practice that one with Isaac every day until he gets it down. Although just in the last couple of days Isaac has repeated "mum mum mum" sounds. Could he be saying Ma-Ma?
The doctor also said we can start Isaac on stage one baby food at any time, but we are in no hurry since starting baby food too early increases his risk of food allergies and obesity. His doctor said we can wait until it seems like breast milk or the bottle just aren't enough for him. Anybody have a favorite recipe book for homemade baby food? I want to try making our own.
This is a really exciting time because he is so interactive and we love watching him grow. It seems that every day he is either discovering something new or surprising us with a new skill... like this!! Look what we can do as of today! Isaac actually keeps himself up for a good minute or so like this... or until he just gets tired of the new posture, whichever comes first. Nevertheless, what an accomplishment!
